Surviving in the bleak conditions of the Alps is not easy. So very many people go missing there every year and the St. Bernards that are sent out after them more than often do not return (but if I happened upon a walking minibar in the middle of the night, I doubt I would ever let it go either).

It is a miracle then that the Von Trapp family dodged the advances of a hostile fighting force of Nazis (under cover of nuns and mountains) and it is an even bigger miracle that they then managed to survive the aforementioned bleak conditions we touched upon earlier and that they didn’t end up having to eat little Liesl for the greater good.
