I have a bookshelf in my room that functions so much better as a monument to poor time management than just as a place to shove your word baskets.

I think I would probably be misrepresenting myself if I were to say that none of those books had ever been strategically placed on a prime location on that shelf for maximum effect but I think that in my defense it also increases the odds of somebody reading me a story at the end of a dinner party or other social event (especially if they catch you out and pity you).

I wouldn’t call it a sure fire formula to great social success in the Western world or indeed any of the worlds that belong to other directions but you’ve got to start somewhere.
