I have never found counting sheep to be all that conducive to sleep. That kind of mental arithmetic so late at night only leads to headaches the next morning.
I wouldn’t say I’m an insomniac but on occasion I do have trouble sleeping so I’ve attempted many remedies in my time. Valerian won’t help you sleep but it will make your mouth taste like you’ve been eating flowers. Warm milk is nice but it won’t do you any favours on a Summer night. A drop of lavender on your pillow might help you sleep but you’ll only dream about old people.
The best way to ensure you’ll sleep well each night is to live each day well. Squeeze two days of life out of every day and you’ll live longer and sleep deeper and if all else fails take a couple of valium with a shot of something flammable.
